Daddy died two years ago today. We buried him on Fat Tuesday and it seemed fitting to have a gathering afterwards and overfill our bellies. Lent began the next day and I observed it for the first time in decades. Rather than “giving up” something for Lent, I chose to write down a happy memory of my father each day.
Some memories were both happy and painful. The video here is a promo for the film that came of those writings. The film is called A Little Bumpy Air, named after the term Daddy used to describe what turbulence is, when experienced in airplanes.
